an archipelago in Washington State. Here, undisturbed by phones and conferences and paperwork, and connected both
to the nature around him and to the stone in front of him, Bill sculpts. By hand-chisel and by machine, by sand-paper and by rasps, he transforms limestone, marble, alabaster, and granite from raw rock into representational and purely abstract forms.
